Examples Of Work to be included on board

Of course I have my favourites, but I cannot fully decide which pieces of work to include until we have decided on a group concept.

Therefore at this point I will keep to myself which pieces of work I think I will choose and just list all the candidates here. This will also provide the opportunity to have a comprehensive list incase I have overlooked any pieces that may have been forgotten.

From this list I will choose the three pieces of work I am most proud of and which best represent what I can achieve. Favourites are marked with *.

Initial Idea Development

Rather than have an image of myself (which could be majorly embarassing, misunderstood, or too dominant in terms of consistancy within my group), I thought of having an outline of my body in this same pose, or better yet, this shape embodying text. Below is an example of this (a poster which actually inspired the idea partially) although I have done a sketch which better represents this at the end of this post.

This text would put across the strong message I tried to explain in my last post; that I personally am proud of the work I have produced at university, but it does not properly show the world what I can achieve. As shown below this would be encased by the three pieces of work I am most proud of since being at university.

Initial Idea

To fill up a 6 x 3 foot board with my uni work could be seen as a bit of a challenge. Some would say;
"how can I find three pieces of work to fill up that much space".
Others may say;
"I have so much to say about these three ideas, how could I fit it all in this space?".

Either way it is a challenge. I like challenges. Regardless, my personal opinion on the matter is that my university work does not represent me and what I can do.

And If possible, this is what I want to put across in my board. Not to show off what I have done over the last three years, but what I could do now.

Yes, I've made websites, but that was my first attempt at HTML. If I did one now it would be much better.

Yes, I've made 3D models, but that was my first attempt at animating 3D. If I did one now it would be much better.

Yes, I've made animations and soundscapes and interfaces and databases but they were all first attempts, if I did it again now (as if a project in a real job I get now after uni) I COULD DO IT MUCH BETTER. Yes this work demonstrates that I can do it but it doesn't show you my real potential. It doesn't show you what I can achieve. It doesn't 'celebrate me' (the words the lecturer used to describe the reason for this exhibition).

This is the message I want to put across in my board. And one visual way of 'celebrating me' or what if I had achieved at uni, is (if possible) having a life-size image of myself in a very self-confident pose (arms folded, head high, lower than eye-level camera angle).

Please forgive me if this appears arrogant, for that is not my intention. This, is why I have developed this idea further...

Initial Thoughts On the module

Hello and welcome to my blog.

Upon receiving the first lecture for this module, I believe it is very interesting in the way that it is completely unlike any module I have done before.

Upon mentioning the implementation of a group concept that provides a consistency between our work, I have come up with a few ideas for said concept.

PROFESSIONALISM; Now that we are ending our experiences here at university, we need to start thinking about applying this to our careers. Now along the thought line of finding a new job, you need to find a prospective employer, and then demonstrate to them what you can do (whether it be in a c.v., interview, portfolio etc.). If we had a professional theme (perhaps wearing suits to the exhibition, providing 'posher' food stuffs, and other little touches like that), this could demonstrate the professionalism we could bring to a company and the job at hand by inviting prospective employers to the exhibition.

COLOUR; I know that one member of our group is particularly 'creative' when it comes to visuals and graphics and would really be able to contribute to this concept in particular, but I also believe that it is such a wide concept that each member can realistically relate to. To represent our work we will need to not only find a representation of our work that uses colour (or a colour-related focus), but we bould maybe each stem a different perspective on the idea. For example my individual contribution to this idea would be the 'lack' of colour; to be just black & white. I have developed an idea for this in my next post.
